Police are searching for a Melfa man wanted in connection with a shooting Friday night at Woodland Mobile Home Park near Parksley.
The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office received a report at around 7:33 p.m. Friday of an argument followed by gunshots at the mobile home park, according to a press release from Accomack County Sheriff Todd Wessells.
While deputies were on the way to the scene, they were notified that a gunshot victim had arrived at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital.
Deputies at the hospital found a 29-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The man was transferred to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and was listed in stable condition.
When deputies arrived at the mobile home park, they found multiple occupied dwellings had been shot and there were a large amount of cartridge casings throughout the area, according to the release.
Investigation led to warrants being obtained for Dominique Rashad Wescott, 27, of Melfa on charges of malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, shooting into an occupied dwelling, and reckless handling of a firearm causing serious injury.
Law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing Wescott as of Tuesday afternoon.
Wescott is described as a Black male, 5′!0″ tall and weighing 240 lbs.
No other suspects are being sought in connection with the incident at this time.
The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Onley Police Department and the Virginia State Police.
