Family members of Robert L. Nock were in attendance at the Accomack County Board of Zoning Appeals meeting Wednesday to accept a resolution of appreciation for the longtime chairman of the BZA, who died in March at age 69.

Nock, who had a more than 43-year career with NASA, was a member of the BZA since being apppointed by Judge Glen Tyler in January 1995. He served as chairman of the BZA from January 2000 until his death.

Nock is remembered for the “fairness and respect” with which he treated all who appeared before the BZA and for presiding over meetings “with dignity and grace,” according to the resolution.

“He was definitely a special person and he will be very, very missed,” said BZA member Betty Kerns, who presented the resolution.
