Mr. Larry James Dise, 71, beloved husband of Henrietta Martin Crockett Dise and lifelong resident of Tangier Island, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md. Born Sept. 14, 1950, on Tangier, he was the son of the late Adrian and Gladys Bowden Dise.

Famed as Tangier’s “Bouncing Wild Man,” Larry was always full of life, spunk, and a grin that instantly brought happiness to those around him. He was a proud Christian and remained dedicated to his faith throughout his life. Like most Tangiermen, Larry worked the waters of the Chesapeake Bay from the time he could board a boat. Whether he was crabbing, oystering, or scraping, he was grateful for the privilege to do what he loved each and every day and never took it for granted.

In addition to his wife, Henny, he is survived by his daughter, Amber Brown, and her husband, Brian, of New Church; brothers, George Cannon and his wife, Jody, and Dana Dise and his wife, Sharon, all of Tangier; brother-in-law, Charles W. “Chuck” Parks III; grandchildren, Brayden Parks, Bailey Handy, and Connor and Isaiah McCready (Alyssa); great-grandchildren, Evan and Sullivan McCready; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by his sisters, Karen Parks and Joanne Cooper and her husband, Billy.

Funeral services will be held at the New Testament Congregation Sunday, March 20, 2022, at 1:30 p.m., with interment in the Crockett Family Cemetery.
