Fedderman Sets High Bar

Dear Editor:

I recently tuned in to a Zoom gathering sponsored by WHRO Public Media. It was entitled, “Race, Let’s Talk About It: Closing the Education Gap.”

There, I “met” James Fedderman, Ph.D., a choral music teacher in Arcadia High School here in Accomack County. He was one of four people on the panel which included two other educators and a former juvenile judge. He made me very proud. He is a extremely intelligent, well-spoken, commonsensical man who  is dedicated to helping children grow and learn. In these stressful times, when teachers are overworked and underpaid, it behooves us all to thank our teachers whose lives are dedicated to helping our children and improving our education system.

I was especially glad to learn that Fedderman was elected president of the Virginia Education Association beginning in August. The Eastern Shore may not be on all the Virginia maps, but we are lucky to have teachers like Fedderman and others.
