Parksley Woman Charged with DUI After Striking Utility Pole at New Church Scales

A Parksley woman was arrested and charged with DUI after the vehicle she was driving hit a utility pole and crashed into a concrete barrier Sunday, Feb. 27. Virginia State Police photo.

Twenty seven year old Shantiya Shaquanay Wiley, of Parksley, was arrested for driving under the influence when the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu she was driving struck a utility pole, knocking it down, and then crashed into a concrete barrier early Sunday morning.

Virginia State Police responded to the scene of the crash, which occurred on the northbound side of Route 13  at the New Church scales, according to Virginia State Police spokesperson Sgt. Michelle Anaya.

State police received a call Sunday at around 3:34 a.m. about the crash.

Wiley was not injured in the crash.

VDOT was notified of the damage. A&N Electric Cooperative also was notified and responded to the scene.
