On Tuesday morning, Feb. 8, 2022, Mrs. Constance “Connie’ Jean Roberts Malloy, 79, after a dignified struggle against the debilitating diseases of Dysphagia and Inclusive Body Myositis (IBM), peacefully followed her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into His Kingdom and is now free of all pain and grief. She was blessed with the presence of her family in her last cognizant moments on Earth.

To those who knew Connie, she was the ultimate friend: a volunteer in every respect of the word from her younger days as coordinator for Meals on Wheels to her final position with the justice department as a victim witness advocate. Connie earned numerous awards over the years, both from community work and professionally, and epitomized what helping people truly meant. Connie, in her own right, was a talented decorator and also turned out many paintings worthy of viewing. Her love of flowers was always on display during the summer months, and her favorite bird bath “spouted water” until the ice formed and was put away for the winter. Her grandchildren doted on her, and she constantly returned their sentiments. Her daughters, Lisa and Kara, were not just daughters to her, but friends and confidants. And, while her family and friends will miss her, she has probably wasted no time organizing reunions and dinners and setting the table for the eventual return of her loved ones.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, George William and Freda Mae (Miller) Roberts; her grandparents, Ross Arthur and Melba Mae (Zimmerman) Miller; and other beloved relatives. Surviving are her husband, Edward; her daughters, Lisa Malloy and Kara Houttekier (David); and her grandchildren, Cooper and Colleen. Also surviving are Aunt Thelma Ruth (Miller) Hauger and cousins Lynn, Brenda, Susan, and Lowell.

Arrangements are by Salyer’s Funeral Home of Chincoteague.

A Christian Celebration of Life will be held at Saint Andrew Catholic Church in June 2022.
