Yellow Jackets Defeat Granby

The Northampton Yellow Jackets varsity boys basketball team hosted Granby High School Monday, Feb. 7. The Yellow Jackets won 61-49. 

The first 10 minutes of the game was a close contest. A 3-pointer by Quayshawn Washington and a series of layups by Ronyell Coston in the second quarter gave the Yellow Jackets a small lead that they carried into halftime. The Yellow Jackets entered the second half with an up-tempo offense. They also became more aggressive on defense, forcing Granby to commit several costly turnovers. The Yellow Jackets outscored Granby 36- 29 throughout the rest of the game to gain the victory. 

Coston led the Yellow Jackets’ offense with 16 points, five rebounds, six assists, and seven steals. Ronrico Bugg had 13 points, five rebounds, and one steal. Jaylen Anderson earned 11 points, two rebounds, one assist, and three steals. Washington had 9 points, three rebounds, four assists, and seven steals. Ellajah Miller had 4 points, 12 rebounds, and two steals.
