Mrs. Betty L. Johnson, 66, of Parksley, departed this life Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022, at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital in Virginia Beach.
Born in Parksley, Betty was the daughter of the late Paige R. Riley Sr. and the late Madeline S. Byrd. She was affectionately known as “Ma Betty” and was the “Hood Mother” of Daugherty. Betty was employed at several establishments, including Perdue and Eastern Shore Seafood Company, where she was known for her fast crab picking skills.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, at the chapel of Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac, with the Rev. James Rich officiating. Interment will be in the Adams U.M. Cemetery, Parksley.
Betty leaves to cherish her priceless memories: her three sons, Troy L. Duffy, Robert L. Byrd, and Anthony Z. Duffy; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Isabelle Riley, Sha’ron Finney, Bridget Manual, Robert K. Byrd, Brenda Cupid, Paige Riley Jr., Orlando Riley, Fred Riley, Avis Mussio, and Joyce Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
