NEW: NWS Issues Winter Weather Advisory for Thursday, Jan. 20

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for southeast Virginia, including Accomack and Northampton counties.

Staff Report —

The National Weather Service in Wakefield, Va., has issued a winter weather advisory in effect from 10 a.m. this morning, Thursday, Jan. 20, until 7 p.m. this evening. A winter storm watch will be in effect from Friday morning until Saturday morning.

Wet snow is expected today (winter weather advisory). Total accumulations of 1 to 2 inches, along with temperatures rapidly falling to near freezing. An additional 1 to 3 inches of snow is expected Friday into Saturday (winter storm watch).

Plan on slippery road conditions. Slow down and use caution when driving.

NWS encourages everyone to monitor forecasts.

  morning to 7 PM EST this evening. For the Winter Storm Watch,
  from Friday morning through Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
  conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.
