Mrs. Deborah J. “Debbie” Benson, 69, wife of Charles E. Benson and a resident of Exmore, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock. A native of Randolph, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Snook and the late Virginia Ervey Snook. She was a retired medical secretary, worked for Eastern Shore Community Services Board, was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of VFW Post 7333 in Randolph, and enjoyed working bingo and helping host dinners for the residents of the VA Hospital in Basking Ridge, N.J.

Debbie always put family and friends first ahead of herself. She was such a dedicated daughter that sold her house in New Jersey and moved to the Eastern Shore to care for her parents, and she was so very proud of her grandchildren and had their pictures hanging everywhere in her house. She loved traveling to Sturbridge Village, MysticVillage, and Waterloo Village, going to Amish Country family-style dinners, and was a bargain shopper. Her passion was to laugh and spread love and joy to everyone around her and had a fondness of rescuing animals of all types. She enjoyed being a creative individual with painting, knitting, arts and crafts, and baking.

In addition to her loving husband of 50 years, she is survived by a son, Ryan Benson, and his wife, Sarah, of Vienna, N.J.; a daughter, Amberley Roio, and her husband, Michael, of Newton, N.J.; two brothers, James Snook, of Hopatcong, N.J., and Mark Snook and his wife, Chrissy, of Capeville; five grandchildren, Ryan Benson Jr., Austin Benson, Aaron Benson, Jax Benson, and Julian Roio; and one great-grandson, Jason Benson.

To honor her request, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a cancer, diabetes, or kidney fund of your choice.
