The Rev. Dan Richard Harris, 68, of Eastville, and formerly of Chase City, Va., passed away Dec. 26, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Becky Vaughan Harris, of Eastville (formerly of South Boston); daughter, Katherine Harris Fisher, and husband, Brad Thomas Fisher, of Nathalie, Va.; son, Daniel Brian Harris, and wife, Katie Boyd Harris, of Forest, Va.; stepdaughter, Amy Morgan Holt, and Jeremy Johnson, of North Carolina; grandchildren, Bryton Axle Fisher and Ryker Thomas Fisher, of Nathalie, Mason Causey Harris and Jackson Reid Harris, of Forest, and Kayla Sage Johnson and Hunter Chase Johnson, of North Carolina; mother, Virginia Hudson Harris, of Chase City; sister, Janet Harris, of Raleigh, N.C.; brother, Rodney Hudson, and wife, Dolores Hudson, of Clarksville, Va., and their children, Elizabeth and Jason Glaze, Nathan Hudson, Eli Hudson, Noah Hudson, Emma Hudson; niece, Heather Harris, of South Boston; close friend, Miriam Strickland, of Raleigh; adopted daughter, Ashley Freeman, of Exmore; and many other extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, John R. Harris, of Chase City; brother, Dean Harris, of South Boston; and nephew John Allen Harris, of Richmond.
The Rev. Dan Harris was an active member of Cheriton Baptist Church in Cheriton, where he served as the worship leader, choir director, and webmaster for the last 13 years. Dan loved music. His voice and gift of being able to sing and play the guitar, piano, and most any musical instrument touched so many lives. Dan loved his family, his wife, his children, and grandchildren more than life itself. But most of all, Dan loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Graveside services were held at Aarons Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life Service was planned for Saturday, Jan. 22, but has been canceled due to impending weather. It will be held at a later date. Check Cheriton Baptist Church Facebook page for updates.
