Snow on the Way? – UPDATED

Staff Report —

The National Weather Service in Wakefield, Va., has issued a briefing for two potential winter weather events: one Thursday afternoon and evening and another potentially more significant event Friday to Saturday morning.

Threats: Around 1″ of snow Thursday afternoon-evening, which could impact the evening commute in the Richmond Metro and Hampton Roads as temperatures drop below freezing. Significant snow accumulations are possible Friday-Saturday morning (with the potential for some icing as well).

Timing: Thursday afternoon-evening for the first event. Friday-Saturday morning for the second event.

Location: Central and southeast Virginia for the first event. The entire area for snow during the second event mainly focused on eastern, southern, and southeast Virginia and northeast North Carolina. Southern Virginia and northeast North Carolina for potential icing during the second event.
