Mrs. Minnie Pearl Ward, 89, a lifelong resident of Guilford and the wife of Freddie Ward, passed away Dec. 7, 2021, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Born Jan. 2, 1932, in Guilford, she was the daughter of the late Roland B. Taylor and the late Lola Annis Taylor. Minnie was a longtime member of Guilford United Methodist Church and later Halls Chapel Church. She enjoyed reading, gardening, watching birds, sewing, cooking, and her cats. Minnie was a faithful pastor’s wife and delighted in the Lord. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her precious granddaughters.
Other than her husband, Minnie is survived by her daughter, Vicky Lynn Taylor (Todd), of Guilford; granddaughters, Autumn Ferguson, of Salisbury, Md., and Cherith Roach (Cole), of Pocomoke City, Md.; and a great-granddaughter, Kinslee Roach.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her, Will and Pearly Annis; an infant son, Freddie Ward Jr.; and a half brother, Paul Mason Taylor.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, at 2 p.m., from the graveside of the Parksley Cemetery, with Pastor Jack Pruitt and Pastor Robert Fletcher officiating.
