Mr. Edward Bruce “E.B.” Mears Jr., 62, a resident of New Church, passed away Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, at his home. A native of New Church, he was the son of the late Edward Bruce Mears and the late Jolena Hopkins Mears. E.B. was a carpenter for Cartwright Construction and a musician who played at Seacrets.
He is survived by two children, Elaine Brooke Stanley-Smith and her husband, Justin, of Alberta, Canada, and Hunter Gabrielle Gurel and her husband, Dallas, of Alberta, Canada; four grandchildren, Ryley Mears, Nolan Stanley-Smith, Zoey Stanley-Smith, and Kade Gurel; two brothers, Darryl Mears, of Michigan, and Tony Mears, of Willis Wharf.
A tribute and Celebration of Life service was held Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the Bloxom Fire Company, 15312 Bayside Drive, Bloxom, with Bobby Blankenship officiating.
