Mr. Michael T. Doyle, 92, proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp (USMC) passed peacefully Oct. 30, 2021, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital surrounded by family.

Michael was born Dec. 8, 1928, in Waukesha, Wis., to Larry and Ruth Doyle. Upon graduating high school, Mike enlisted in the USMC where he served for 26 years, four months, and eight days before retiring as a Sergeant Major on Jan.  31, 1973. He served in the Vietnam War from Dec. 2, 1970, to May 25, 1971. He received numerous awards during his years of service including the Combat Action Ribbon (CAR), Air Medal with 13, Navy Achievement Medal with V, Good Conduct Medal (GCM) 7th, Vietnam Service Medal (VSM) with four stars, and Combat Air Crew Wings with three stars. He was a member of the American Legion Post #159 where he dedicated many years of service.

Michael is survived by his children, Peggy A. Riley, of Chincoteague, Charles Brittingham (Doris), of Wallops lsland, and Nancy L. Bailey, of Laurel, Del.; seven grandchildren, Sylvia M. Bell (Kevin), of Chincoteague, James E. Haley Jr., of Chincoteague, Michelle L. Rohr (Bill), of Shippensburg, Pa., Charles Brittingham Jr. (Jennifer), of Dagsboro, Del., Michael S. Brittingham (Kellie), of Dennisville, N.J., and Steve Bailey (Lisa), of Seaford, Del.; 17 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Larry and Ruth Doyle; brothers, James and Larry Doyle; his loving wife, Sylvia C. Doyle; and a grandson, Kevin T. Clark Sr.

A family service with military honors will be held at the Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, Va., Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, at 11 a.m.

ln lieu of flowers, donations made be made to the Chincoteague lsland Library, the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company, or the Museum of Chincoteague lsland.
