Mr. Richard Steven Valack, 89, husband of Mary Catherine Ames Valack and a resident of Cape Charles, passed away Friday, Oct. 15, 2021, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock. A native of Brackenridge, Pa., he was the son of the late Stephen Valack and the late Anna Ukrop Valack. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, graduate of VMI, and member of First Baptist Church, of Virginia Beach.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by three children, Margaret McCoy Sitter, of Brookfield, Ill., Catherine Ann Smith, of Darien, Ill., and Richard Steven Valack II (Amanda), of New Orleans, La.; a sister, Joyce Marie Holder, of Richmond; four grandchildren, Rebecca Kerschen (Ashley), Lauren Sitter, Michael Sitter (Sarah), and Jorie Smith; and one great-grandchild, Loretta Rose Sitter.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 5, 2021, at 3 p.m., at the Cape Charles Cemetery gravesite, with the Rev. Steve Gumpton officiating.
