Mr. James Burleigh Latimer, 70, husband of Joanne Williams Latimer, and a resident of Eastville, formerly of Kiptopeke, passed away Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, at his home. A native of Norfolk, he was the son of the late James Wise Latimer and the late Constance Buckingham Latimer. A retired surveyor, he was a graduate of the Army Surveying School at Fort Belvoir and a member of the Virginia Association of Surveyors.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by two children, Matthew Burleigh Latimer and his wife, Erica, of Midlothian, Va., and Anne Marie Latimer, of Virginia Beach; a brother, Larry Thomas Latimer, and his wife, Sherry, of Kiptopeke; six grandchildren, Paige Latimer, Ethan Latimer, William Latimer, Dimitrie Pyatt, Calynn Rose Latimer, and Perry Joseph Latimer; three nephews, Benjamin Latimer, Jonathan McIvor, and Brandon McIvor; and a niece, Katherine Wyndham. James was predeceased by his sister, Dana Latimer VanDyke.

A graveside service was conducted Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, at 2 p.m., at the Trower Collins Latimer Cemetery in Kiptopeke with the Rev. Randy Timmerman officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Virginia, P.O.
