Ms. Donna Morgan, 75, of Belle Haven, went to Heaven to talk God’s ears off on Oct. 8, 2021.
Her beautiful story began in Newport News, on May 8, 1946, when she was the third born child to Charles Eugene Morgan and Margaret Eleanor Taylor Morgan. She was a blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl who God blessed with the gift of gab and an extra dash of energy.
We are sure she’s in Heaven filling everyone in on what we’ve all been doing since they passed. She had many loves but chatting about some good gossip had to be among the top. She loved hearing about everyone’s lives, plans, thoughts, and dreams. She also liked to provide her opinion on those thoughts you shared whether you wanted to hear them or not.
Among her lifelong loves would be her children, especially her firstborn son, John, who was affectionately nicknamed “Pin number” because his birth year was used in every one of her passwords and pin numbers to every account she ever had (lol). She also loved her grandkids, her family (especially her parents), and her first love, John E. Thornes Sr. She loved adventure, traveling, cheering on John at arm wrestling competitions, home decorating, yard sales, camping, a good cup of coffee, white chocolate macadamia nut cookies, political discussions, Dr. Phil, and her fur babies … among many other things.
She is survived by her son, John Thornes Jr., and his wife, Beth, of Onancock; her firstborn daughter, Spring, and her husband, Angelo, of Wachapreague; and her baby girl, Amber Rose, and her husband, Richard, of Belle Haven. She has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were lucky enough to witness the life of a really energetic, feisty, firecracker of a Granny/Great-Granny, and they are: Megan, Taylor, and JJ Thornes, Ridge and Morgan Rose, Jamie Logan, Presley Howell, Cody and Paige DiMartino; and her two great-grands: Cooper Brunk and Elizabeth DiMartino. Donna is also survived by her sister, Iris Crockett, of Onancock; and two brothers, Charles E. Morgan Jr. and wife, Sherry, of Onancock, and Joseph C. Morgan and wife, Peggy, of Melfa. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Richard P. “Dickie” Morgan; and her brothers-in-law, Cecil Thornes and Willie Crockett.
Honoring Donna’s request, there will be a private memorial service for family members only.
Donna would be adamant that in lieu of flowers or donations, please go buy yourself something. She thought everyone worked hard and deserved to spend a little money on themselves. So, if you were inclined to send flowers or make a donation, go out instead and buy yourself something and say, “Donna said I should.” She would want everyone to go live their best life and make lots of memories.
