Mr. Ronald Nottingham West, 73, husband of Emily Faye West and a resident of Machipongo, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021, at his residence. A native of Birdsnest, he was the son of the late Robert Burns West and the late Charlotte Nottingham West. He was a retired educator, 25-year member of Northampton Fire and Rescue, taught E.M.T. classes, and a proud 50-year member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his brother, Norwood James “Jimmy” West, and his wife, Carol, of Ocean Pines, Md.; aunt, Jo West, of Birdsnest; niece, Holly T. West; nephew, Brian C. West; and numerous cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date with interment in Red Bank Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Virginia Wesleyan University, John A. Trinder Center for Advancement, Godwin Hall, 5817 Wesleyan Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23455.
