Mr. Warren E. Northan, 72, of Parksley, transitioned peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021, in Nassawadox.

Born in Philadelphia, Warren was the son of the late Virgie Mae Northan Anderson. He was affectionately known as “Babe Ruth” or “Rev. Jackson” by his family and trucking friends. After high school, he joined the workforce at Holly Farms. He began as a line worker and eventually became a truck driver for the company. In the late 1980s, after driving for many years for Holly Farms, the Rev. Jackson became owner and operator of W.E. Northan and Sons Trucking Co. In addition to over 30 years in the trucking business, he dedicated countless hours of service to C.C. Humbles Funeral Service and later Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co. Inc.

On April 15, 1972, Babe Ruth was joined in matrimony to Annie Sample Northan.

Private graveside services were held Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021, at the Adams U.M. Church Cemetery, Parksley, with the Rev. Milton P. Bunting officiating.

Babe Ruth leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Annie Northan; three daughters, Monica Upshur, Felicia Northan, and Tamesha Giddens; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marlene Chisum and Vanessa Locklear; nephew, Jeffrey Locklear; nieces, Jada Locklear, Tayannia Ames, and Nicole Hickman; Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co. family; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Arrangements are by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac.
