Mr. Charles Raymond Wimbrow Sr., 82, of Chincoteague Island, passed away Aug. 21, 2021, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Stockton, Md., on April 28, 1939, a son to the late Douglas and Mary (Ennis) Wimbrow.

He was a member of Elks Lodge of Accomack and the U.S. Trotting Association. He was a former member of Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company and a saltwater cowboy.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Daisey Wimbrow, of Chincoteague Island; daughter, Laurie Ann Thornton, and her husband, Eddie, of Chincoteague Island; son, Charles Raymond Wimbrow Jr., and his wife, Amanda, of Atlantic; four granddaughters, Tiffany Nicole Patton and her husband, Robert, of Chincoteague Island, Jennie Bobitka and her husband, Brian, of Crofton, Md., Candi Marie Conner and her husband, Jon, of Chincoteague Island, and Ashley Elizabeth Wimbrow and her fiance, Patrick, of Snow Hill, Md.; three brothers, Edward Frank Wimbrow and his wife, Linda, of Wattsville, Norman Wimbrow and his wife, Sarah Lou, of Kentucky, and Elwood Wimbrow and his wife, Nancy, of Snow Hill, Md.; sister, Patsy Lambertson, and her husband, Jerry, of Snow Hill; seven great-grandchildren; two brother-in-laws, Larry Merritt Sr. and his wife, Sharon, of Chincoteague Island, and Warren Hinnman, of Guilford; uncle, Charles “Skinny” Wimbrow, of Accomac; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Douglas Wimbrow Jr.; brother, Buzz Wimbrow; sister, Margaret Hinnman; sister, Eloise Ennis; sister, Jackie Wilson; and brother, Calvin Wimbrow.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021, from 7 to 9 p.m., at Salyer Funeral Home Inc., Chincoteague Island.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021, at 2 p.m., at the Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague Island, with Pastor Maurice Enright officiating.

Burial took place in the Downing Cemetery in Oak Hall.
