Accomack Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash

On Aug. 12, 2021 (Thursday), the Virginia State Police investigated a single-vehicle fatality in Accomack County, Eastern Shore, Virginia.
According to State Police, the vehicle crash occurred at approximately 6:20 p.m., on Route 13/Lankford Highway, north of Route 662/Baylys Neck Road.
The driver of a 2001 Ford Escape, 59-year-old Shelton Leon Watson, was traveling northbound on Route 13, crossed over the median and the southbound lanes of Route 13. The vehicle then ran off the roadway and struck a tree.
Watson was not wearing his safety belt at the time of the incident and was taken to Riverside Shore Memorial with life-threatening injuries. Watson, of the 15300 block of Lankford Highway, succumbed to his injuries
Notification has been made to family members.
