The National Weather Service Wakefield, Va., has issued a flash flood watch covering all of the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

A briefing released Saturday, Aug.7, highlights the potential for heavy rain and isolated severe storms expected later this morning through early this evening.

Key Points:

  • An area of low pressure will track across the region today bringing heavy rainfall to much of the area and isolated severe storms.
  • Location: south-central/central and eastern/southeastern Virginia and northeast North Carolina.
  • Timing: Flash Flood Watch in effect through 10 p.m. Saturday.
  • Threats: Heavy rainfall of 1-3″ with local amounts to 5″, localized flash flooding, and isolated severe storms.
