Mr. Ronnie Preston Watkinson, 78, passed away July 13, 2021.
Born in Accomac, he moved to Newport News and was employed in the pipe department at Newport News Shipbuilding. After several years, he began working for Independent Life Insurance Company (later American General) as salesman, staff manager, and district manager. He retired after 37 years of service. He was a kind and thoughtful person and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Rogers and Willie Belote, and parents, Dudley Watkinson and Dorothy Belote, all of the Eastern Shore, and sister-in-law, Joyce Watkinson, of Delaware.
Ronnie is survived by his brother, James Watkinson, and nephews, Kenny and Ricky Watkinson, all of Greenwood, Del., and special friend and companion, Bernie Freeman, of Gloucester, Va.
A private graveside service will be held Aug. 3, 2021, at Fairlawn Cemetery, Onancock. In his memory, contributions can be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or your favorite charity.
