Arrest Made in Double Homicide

An Exmore man was arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of two people Saturday evening in Deep Creek.
Frederick Barnes, 34, is charged with two counts of second-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, and three counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, according to Sheriff Todd Wessells.
Barnes is incarcerated in the Accomack County Jail with bond denied.
The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office received a report Saturday, July 3, at around 8:53 p.m. of two people shot at a residence on Deep Creek Road, according to Wessells.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a man and a woman unresponsive.
The victims, Dean Reid, 53, of Parksley, and Brenda Barnes, 75, of Exmore, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victims are being transported to the Norfolk Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.
Investigation into the incident led to warrants being obtained for Frederick Barnes.
The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Onancock Police Department, the Onancock Volunteer Fire Department, and the Accomack County Department of Public Safety.
