Ms. Mary D. Handy, 65, of New Church, departed this life Thursday, June 3, 2021, at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Virginia Beach.
Born in Nassawadox, Mary was the daughter of the late Lynwood Washington and the late Marie Goodwine Davis. She worked in various industries over the years. Her last endeavor was with Wharton Cleaning Service at Wallops Island, until her health began to fail.
Private funeral services were held Saturday, June 12, 2021, at the chapel of Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac, with the Rev. Gary Miller officiating.
She leaves to cherish her memory: five daughters, Kathy Davis, Elizabeth Strand, Towyna Davis, Makesha Payton, and Cassie Shockley; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Jewell Burgess and Diane Washington; brothers, Tonie Washington, Devon Washington, and Pastor Calvin Washington; sister-in-law, Sylvestalette Farrare Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and special friends.
Arrangements were by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac.
