Williams Homers in Arcadia Victory Over Nandua

The Arcadia Firebirds traveled to Onley to face off against the Nandua Warriors May 18. The Firebirds bats came ready to play, having pivotal battles with Reghan Hintz right out the gate. They took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back after running in five runs in the third inning. They handed Nandua its first home loss to a Shore team in more than a decade with a 9-4 victory. Arcadia is currently tied with Chincoteague for first place in a tight district race after a late comeback loss to the Ponies on May 11.

Sydney Jester got the start for Arcadia recording the win. After seven innings she struck out four batters against two walks. Hannah Parks led at the plate going 2 for 4 with tree RBIs, Logan Stapleton went 2 for 4 with a double and a RBI, Skylar Stapleton went 2 for 4 recording a double, Brianna Montross went 2 for 4 with a triple, and Bella Williams smashed a home run in the fifth inning.

Reghan Hintz got the start for Nandua, taking the loss after pitching two innings. She allowed four runs against one strikeout. Jordan Crockett relieved Hintz in third. Through two innings she allowed two runs and struck out one. She was relieved by Alana Shea in the fifth. Shea closed the game pitching three innings with three strikeouts against two walks, letting up two runs. Bailey Taylor led at bat going 2 for 4 recording a triple and RBI followed by Reghan Hintz who went 2 for 4 with a triple.
