Arcadia owned the pitch Monday night, defeating Chincoteague 9-0 in boys soccer action.

A four-goal first half didn’t stop the Firebirds from pressing for more in the second. Throughout the game Arcadia’s players audibly and physically displayed their urgency, dominating control of the ball from the midfield to Chincoteague’s end.

Following an impressive first 40 minutes, the goals just continued to get prettier, with Arcadia displaying a number of skill sets to find the back of the net.

Quickly into the second half, Angel Larreinega centered the ball to Larry Velasques, who skillfully bested Chincoteague’s goalkeeper with a header. Later, Jesse Perez made his way through the defense and was knocked hard to the ground. For his efforts he was rewarded a free kick and easily scored. Perez’s second goal of the half, and Arcadia’s ninth for the game, came after another tremendous move set up by great passes from Velasques and Enrry Perez.

The final goal of the game occurred with 25 minutes to play, but the contest was called by referees at that point. In addition to Jesse Perez, Larreinega, and Kelvin Perez finished the game with two goals, and Enrry Perez and Limer Perez also contributed a goal apiece.
