Mr. Matthew Mitchell, 43, departed this life Saturday, May 8, 2021, in Accomack County due to a fatal accident.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Matthew was the son of Harvey Mitchell Sr. and Geraldine Williams. He was known as “Matt” by family and friends. In 1997, Matt joined the U.S. Army and after serving two years, he received an honorable discharge. He worked at several organizations, including one in Connecticut.
Private funeral services were held Saturday, May 15, 2021, at the Chapel of Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac, with the Rev. Brenda Peterson officiating. Interment was in the Groton Community Cemetery, Messongo.
Matt leaves to cherish his memory: his father, Harvey Mitchell Sr.; mother, Geraldine Williams; two sons, Tyshawn and Nasir Mitchell; three daughters, Monique, Imani, and Madison Mitchell; five brothers, Alonzo, Brice, Lorenzo, Troy, and Christian Williams; four sisters, Joan M. Guiterrez, Ashley, Venus, and Margorie Williams; grandfather, John Mitchell; grandmother, Joanne Teel; one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law; several nieces and nephews; one great-nephew; special friend, Tasha Corbin; and a host of other relatives and friends.
