Mr. Edward L. Harmon, 75, departed this life Monday, May 3, 2021, at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro, N.C.
Born in Accomack County, Edward was the son of the late Clarence Harmon and the late Viola Bunting. He was affectionately known as “Fly Wright,” “James Brown,” and “Godfather,” by his family and friends. His grandchildren lovingly called him “Grandpop.”
On Dec. 8, 1965, Edward married the love of his life, Janette Northan Harmon.
After leaving school, he worked in various industries, until he gained employment with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). He retired from VDOT after 30 years of service.
Private graveside services were held Thursday, May 13, 2021, at Wharton Cemetery, Parksley, with the Rev. Ricardo Poulson officiating.
Edward is survived by his loving wife, Janette Harmon; daughter, Tonya Alexander; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Bunting; two special cousins, Juanita Warner and Wayne Hall; special co-worker, Betty Reid; and a host of other relatives and friends.
