Mrs. Sue Boggs Mason, 97, beloved wife of the late Norman Fletcher Mason, Jr. for nearly 75 years and a native of Finney’s Wharf in Onancock, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Commonwealth Senior Living in Onancock. Born May 14, 1923, at the family home in Finney’s Wharf, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Littleton Boggs and the late Annie Sue Reaston Boggs.

Sue graduated from Onancock High School and attended Mary Washington College, later transferring to Madison College where she received her bachelor’s degree in education in 1944. Following college, Sue briefly worked as a dietician at Peninsula General Hospital in Salisbury, Md., and then spent the next two decades working as a home economics teacher for Accomack County Public Schools.

The sheer definition of a Christian woman, Sue proudly gave her life in service to the Lord. She was a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church in Parksley, and regularly attended services at Market Street United Methodist Church in Onancock. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, who lived a life of selfless dedication to her faith, family, and friends.

She is survived by her son, David F. Mason, of Onancock; brother, Edward Boggs, and his wife, Marianne, of Minnesota; two step-granddaughters, Rebecca S. Bresee and Christian S. Parks, and their families; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Sara Beth Mason; sisters, Sara Nervilla Boggs and Edna Boggs Daley; brother Ralph Thomas Boggs; infant brother, Joseph Littleton Boggs; and daughter-in-law, Millie Mason.

Sue will be laid to rest with her husband and daughter at the Onancock Cemetery on her 98th birthday, Friday, May 14, 2021, at 11 a.m. Mr. George Fulk will officiate.
