Staff Report —
Chincoteague Police Department report a scam was attempted today on a resident of Accomack County using the department’s name, phone number, 757-336-3155, and Chief R. K. Fisher’s name.
The scam advised of an outstanding Maryland warrant for the resident and requested him or her to obtain gift cards locally to take care of the warrant.
Anytime you are requested to obtain gift cards it is most likely a scam and you should contact the department directly. Contact the department at 757-336-3155 with any questions.
