Mr. Michael Ray Pruitt, 70, of Northside Chesconessex, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021, at Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center in Parksley. Born July 19, 1950, in Nassawadox, he was the son of the late Morris Ray Pruitt and the late Katie Gene Williams Pruitt.

Mike was a waterman through and through and lived for days working on the water. He worked as a tugboat mate and later became a captain, often pulling pots with his brother and other local watermen on his days off. Always with a hug and a big smile, Mike never met a stranger and was a dear friend to many.

He is survived by his daughter, Julie M. Pruitt, and her children, Cameron and Bella Mya Townsend, all of Parksley; sister, Marsha Thomas, of Onancock; brother, Mark Pruitt, and his wife, Donna, of Northside Chesconessex; niece, Ashley Gene Harrison, and her husband, Joseph, of Birdsnest; and nephew, Jacob C. Thomas, of Onancock. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a nephew, Mark W. Pruitt Jr.

Services will be private.
