Mr. William “Bill” Henry Johnson Jr., 91, of Bradenton, Fla., passed away peacefully Jan. 20, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen; two children, William Johnson, of New York, N.Y., and Kathy Sundberg (Andrew), of St. Pete Beach, Fla. (formerly of Richmond); and two grandchildren, Eric Sundberg and Megan Sundberg. He is preceded in death by his parents, Agnes and William Johnson; and brother, James R. Johnson.
After growing up in West Caldwell, N.J., Bill served with the Marine Corps in the Korean War. Bill and Helen raised their children in Denville, N.J., where, after a 34-year career with AT&T/Bell Telephone Laboratories in Whippany, he retired and they moved to the Eastern Shore of Virginia to enjoy boating and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay. After many years as snowbirds, they moved to Bradenton.
A private memorial service will be scheduled for a later date at Sarasota National Cemetery. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
