Mrs. Rieta Cheryl LeCato, 73, was born Sept. 8, 1947, on Chincoteague Island. Known as “TuTu,” she went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020, at her home in Wilmington, N.C.

Rieta graduated from CHS and then traveled with her husband, Jerry W. LeCato (deceased). She had many hobbies and interests including playing golf, cards, or anything competitive with family and friends. Beaches with warm weather were truly where you would find her. She was truly gifted with many talents, whatever she did, she did it well.

Rieta was predeceased by her loving husband, Jerry W. LeCato; father, Pete Richardson; mother, Eldee Richardson; and her sister, Judy Warren. Survivors include her son, Jerry LeCato Jr., and his wife, Tammy LeCato, of Wilmington; daughter, Angie Pruitt, of Wilmington; grandkids, Taylor LeCato, of New York, Amber LeCato, of North Carolina, Jacob Pruitt, of Virginia, and Skylar Pruitt, of North Carolina; sister, Sharon R. Yonek, and her husband, John Yonek, of Chincoteague; brothers-in-law, Larry Warren, of Virginia, and Albert LeCato Jr., of Virginia; nieces, Cathie Lavarias, Debbie Horton, and Kimberly Connell; and nephews, Chris Warren, Tony Yonek, and Bert LeCato.

There will be a Celebration of Life for her as well as for her late husband, Jerry, Saturday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m., at the Pungoteague Community Center, 15346 Pungoteague Road. Bobby Parks will be the speaker.
