Mr. David Leroy Hawes, 68, of Keller, passed away Oct. 20, 2020, in Norfolk.
Born Sept. 27, 1952, in Connecticut, he was the son of the late Glennis Belmain Hynes and his stepfather, John A Hynes. David was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired maintenance worker from ESCC. David enjoyed kayaking, hiking, exploring, games of chance, and wood carving. His favorite places were Salmon River in Connecticut and the Chesapeake Bay.
David is survived by a brother, John D. Hynes, and wife, Deborah, of Keller; a sister, Michelle Bernacki, of New York; and two nephews, Justin W. Fitchett, of North Carolina, and Conner A. Hynes, of Keller. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Albatte.
Memorial services will be private.
Arrangements are by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.
