Mrs. Mary W. Evans, 96, of Modest Town, passed away Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020, at Commonwealth Senior Living in Onancock. Born March 7, 1924, in Marion, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Milton Finley Greene and the late Margaret Edna Craig Greene. Mrs. Evans was a secretary for the National Association of Manufacturers and a longtime member of Modest Town Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles Leonard “Charlie” Evans; and her brothers and sisters, Ward and Perry Greene, Faye G. Davis, and Vera G. Goode. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and their families.
Funeral services were conducted from the graveside at the Modest Town Baptist Church Cemetery on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. John Cullop officiating.
