On Monday, July 27, 2020, Mr. Michael Thomas Burns passed away at the age of 71, after a lengthy illness. Mike had been living in Wachapreague for many years.

Mike was born on June 13, 1949, in York, Pa., to Thomas and Doreen Burns. He attended West York High School and then served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a skilled mechanic and was a lifetime veteran charter member of Crotch Cannibal Motorcycle Club of York, Pa. Mike was known for his quick wit and infectious sense of humor.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Tom; his mother, Doreen; and his brother, John. He is survived by his stepmother, Louise Burns; his brother, Ralph Burns, and his wife, Rose; his stepsister, Deb Andress, and her family; his daughters, Tracy Eberwein and her husband, Mel, and their two children, Bailey and Kolby, and Amanda Becker and her children, Chyenne and Dakota; and his nieces, Lori Riddle and Donna Burns, and their families.

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at the Wachapreague Seaside Park (corner of Main Street and Atlantic Avenue) on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020, at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mike’s memory may be made to Puppies Behind Bars, which trains puppies as service animals for veterans, 263 West 38th St., 4th Floor, New York, NY 10018 (www.puppiesbehindbars.com).
