Mr. Stephen Meredith Robins, 70, husband of Etta Rayfield Robins and a resident of Cape Charles, passed away suddenly Friday, July 10, 2020. A native of Cheriton, he was the son of the late Stanley Meredith Robins and the late Mary Dorothy Leahy Robins. He was a retired business owner, member of Capeville Masonic Lodge #107 AF&AM, N.R.A., and Royal Arch Chapter.

At the age of 21, he built his first house on the family farm with the help of his grandfather, George Robins. Years later he built his present home on the seaside, constructing the majority of the house himself. Steve was an avid collector of antique guns and Japanese swords. His passion for firearms began at the young age of 4 and he developed into an extremely skilled marksman. Steve had a deep interest in history and was always found with a book in hand. Spending time in the great outdoors brought Steve immense happiness. Although he only shared it with those closest to him, Steve had a great sense of humor and genuine love of life.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a daughter, Meredith Robins McCormick, and her husband, Gordon, of Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Mary R. Rodgers and her husband, Stephen, of Edinburg, Va., and Judy R. Parks and her boyfriend, Andy Steinberg, of Norfolk, Va.; a brother, James Russell Robins and his wife, Beth, of Eastville; a granddaughter he adored, Millie Carter McCormick; and two granddogs, Oliver and Fitz.

A graveside service with Masonic Rites will be conducted Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at 11 a.m., at Cape Charles Cemetery, with Barry Downing officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005 or Republican National Committee, 310 First St. SE, Washington, DC 20003.
