Mr. Stephen Wayne Porterfield, 50, a resident of Eastville, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2020, at his residence. A native of Parksley, he was the son of Margaret Porterfield, of Quinby, and the late Charles Edward Porterfield.

After graduation from Arcadia High School, Steve went on to attend Baltimore International Culinary College where he had the opportunity to train abroad, work under a master chef and do a six-week externship at the renowned Williamsburg Inn in Colonial Williamsburg, Va.

He was most recently employed at the Cape Charles Brewing Company where for the previous two years his clam chowder took first place in the Eastern Shore Chowder Cook-Off. His famous crab cakes were enjoyed by many and bragged about by all.

Having never met a stranger, Steve was most fortunate to have many, many devoted friends who remember him most for his warm friendly smile and big heart. He will be sorely missed by all.

In addition to his mother, Margaret D. Porterfield, and her companion, John Lyon, he is survived by numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Archie and Jane Doughty.

Funeral services will be private. Should one desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Eastern Shore Food Bank, P.O. Box 518 Onley, VA 23418.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.doughtyfuneralhome.com

Arrangements were made by Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore.
