Northampton Extends Winning Streak

The Yellow Jackets extended their winning streak to five and finish district play with a 7-2 record.

The Jackets were prolific against Chincoteague, spreading the ball evenly on offense, backed by strong rebounding. They rolled past the Ponies 79-60 and had four players finish in double digits. Bradyn Washington finished with a double-double, recording 20 points and 10 rebounds.  Vonte Coston had 20 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Ahmad Scarborough finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, and four assists, Quincy Washington tallied 14 points, five rebounds, and four steals.

Chincoteague fought valiantly in the contest with tough front-court play by Ayden Leonard matched by a relentless attack by point guard Trent Clark. Clark lead all scorers with 24 points, Leonard finished with 18, and Brandon Bundick added 12.

Northampton finished district play on the road with a win over the Nandua Warriors on Feb. 7.  The Yellow Jackets currently sit in third place in the Region and have a 14-6 record on the season. During the Friday rival game, they were led by Vonte Coston with 22 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Ahmad Scarborough had 19 points, eight rebounds, and five steals. Quincy Washington finished with 11 points and six rebounds.
