With deepest sorrow we announce that Mr. Donald Judson “Donnie” Fitchett II, 31, our most beloved husband, father, and son passed away suddenly Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, in Colorado Springs, Colo. 

He was born in Nassawadox, July 8, 1988, to Jeffrey and Mitzi Bowden Fitchett. Donnie graduated from Universal Technical Institute in Norwood, Mass., in 2007, and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 2009. Donnie was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran who served his country in Afghanistan. He recently received his degree in network security from Colorado Tech.

He was a member of Union Baptist Church on Chincoteague Island. He was an avid outdoorsman, but most of all, he loved his family.

Donnie will be missed everyday by the love of his life, his wife of 10 years, Trishia Morris Fitchett, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and his two precious daughters, who were the apple of his eye, Merritt Kathryn and Sadie Elizabeth, both of Colorado Springs, Colo. He was the world and hero to his parents, Jeff and Mitzi Fitchett, of Chincoteague. He is also survived by his grandmother, Gladys Fitchett, of Chincoteague; uncle, Jerry Fitchett; father and mother-in-law, Matthew and Cheryl Morris Sr., of San Antonio, Texas; brother-in-law, Matthew Morris and his wife, Jessica, of New Jersey; several cousins, a niece, a nephew, and his fur babies, Sampson Lee, Rylie Ann, Maxwell Rose, Maverick Brunson, and Phoebe Buffay.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Donald Judson Fitchett, and grandmother, Mitzi Bowden.   

A memorial service was held Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020, at the Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague, with the Rev. Kevin Eley officiating. Interment was held in the Daisey Cemetery, Church Street, Chincoteague.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fitchett Children’s Fund. Please make checks payable to Trishia Fitchett.
