Mr. Milton “Douglas” Evans, 75, of Accomac, husband of his high school sweetheart of almost 60 years, June Bull Evans, passed away Dec. 14, 2019, at Sentara Norfolk General Heart Hospital.

Born July 18, 1944, in Wilmington, Del., he was the son of the late A. Garland Evans and Beulah Mason Evans.

After graduating from ODU, he began his teaching career in Norfolk, and then returned to reside on the Eastern Shore, where he continued teaching. Mr. Evans was a multi-generational, progressive farmer, which he continued to do full-time up until the time of his death. He loved reading, NASCAR, and traveling to Key West, Las Vegas and New Orleans. One of his favorite pastimes was going on cruises for the last 30 years with his wife, June. Mr. Evans was a lifelong member of the Elks Club BPOE 1766 and served as the exalted ruler in 1980. He enjoyed holding court every morning in the Club Car Café in Parksley, telling jokes and stories. His final wish of giving to others was in the form of organ donation to Lifenet services.

Other than his wife, June, Mr. Evans is survived by his brother and lifelong friend, David Evans, of Greenbush; three daughters, Kimberly Williams (Carl), Kelli Martin (Charlie), Kathi Winoker (Neil); and his six beloved grandchildren, Taylor, CJ, Tucker, Mason, Holden and Sammy.

A memorial service will be held Jan. 5, 2020, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, in Accomac, with Pastor Wayne Asbury officiating.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA of the Eastern Shore, P.O. Box 165, Onley, VA 23418 or the Parksley Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 14, Parksley, VA 23421
