Advisory to the Public About Websites
The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF) is putting out an advisory to the public about websites claiming to sell Virginia fishing licenses. The department reminds outdoor enthusiasts that gooutdoorsvirginia.com and dgif.virginia.gov are the only official websites to purchase fishing and hunting licenses and permits. Go Outdoors Virginia mobile app can also be used for license purchases.

Warrior Fun Run
Nandua is holding a Fun Run on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 9 a.m. at Nandua High School. The run will start and end at the school. Registration and check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. The registration options include a 1-mile run for $10 a person or a 5K run for $20 a person. Payment and a wavier must be filled out and sent to Nandua High School’s Booster Club. To register, contact Le’Andra Metzger at le’[email protected].va.us.

Sellard to Speak to Anglers Club
The Eastern Shore of Virginia Anglers Club (www.esanglersclub.org) will hold its monthly meeting on November 11 in the conference room of the Sage Restaurant in Onley. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. and will feature a presentation by the club’s  Angler of the Year, Sam Sellard. Sellard will talk about using popping corks locally to catch fish, in particular speckled trout and puppy drum. His presentation will cover locations, tides, rigs, and related subjects. The public is invited to attend, and new or prospective members are welcome.

E.S. Family YMCA Holds Karate Lessons
The Eastern Shore Family YMCA will be holding karate lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m., ages 6-12, and 7:30 p.m., ages 13 and up at the YMCA in Onley. The cost is $35 per month for members and $50 per month for prospective members. For more information, call 787-5601.

USDA and Ducks Unlimited Hold Public Workshop
The USDA and Ducks Unlimited are holding a free public workshop on Wetland Restoration and the American Black Duck initiative on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 9:30 a.m. at the Virginia Tech Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Painter. 5th Annual All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser
Nandua High School is holding an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 8 a.m.-noon at the Nandua High School cafeteria until food runs out. The cost is $5 for kids 12 and under; $8 for everyone else and for takeout. The menu includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, scrapple, hash browns, orange juice, apple juice, coffee, water. Takeout includes three pancakes, four strips of bacon, two sausage patties, a slice of scrapple, one hash brown, eggs and a to-go drink. For more information, contact coach Metzger at 757-787-4514.
