Mr. Leonard Fletcher Sturgis, 94, husband of the late Margaret Mapp Sturgis and a resident of Davis Wharf, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock. A native of Davis Wharf, he was the son of the late Leonard Sturgis and the late Lella Elmore Sturgis. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, retired maintenance supervisor for the Virginia Truck and Ornamentals Research Station, President of A.R.C. Eastern Shore, member of Craddockville United Methodist Church and a member of Pungoteague Ruritan Club.

He is survived by two sons, Lennie Sturgis and his wife, Miriam, of Birdsnest, and Timmy Sturgis, of Davis Wharf; two granddaughters, Amy G. Sturgis and Martha L. Sturgis; and three great-granddaughters, Hailey, Jocelynn, and Caroline.

A graveside service was conducted Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019, at Belle Haven Cemetery with the Reverend Rob Kelly officiating. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to A.R.C. Eastern Shore, P.O. Box 626, Exmore, VA 23350.
