Mr. Arthur Joseph Schwendeman II passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019, at Commonwealth Senior Living, in Onancock, at the age of 97. Born Nov. 13, 1921, in Milltown, N.J., he was the son of the late Arthur J. Schwendeman I and Lillian F. Schwendeman.

After serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, he and his wife, Wilma, of 75 years, raised six children. He retired as a captain from American Airlines in 1980 and moved to the Eastern Shore, where he loved sailing and crabbing. Mr. Schwendeman was a good and honorable man and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Schwendeman is survived by his wife, Wilma Busen Schwendeman; daughters, Judy Fahrenholz and husband, Chuck, of Hickory, N.C., Susan Beebe and husband, Bob, of Sevierville, Tenn.; sons, Kevin Schwendeman, of North Brunswick, N.J., Art Schwendeman and wife, Lynn, and Bill Schwendeman, all of Melfa; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Schwendeman, of Harborton; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Schwendeman was predeceased by his son, Roger Schwendeman.

As per his final wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
