By Stefanie Jackson – As Accomack County citizens prepare to elect a school board for the first time this November, the Accomack Education Association plans to host a meet-and-greet with the candidates Monday, Aug. 26, 6 p.m., at Nandua High School.

“The purpose of the forum is to hear the candidates’ vision for Accomack County Public Schools and how they plan to represent the views of their magisterial district on the school board,” stated James Fedderman, the president of the Accomack Education Association.

All candidates for the Accomack school board are invited, regardless of whether or not they are in a contested race.

The candidates and their respective districts are: Jesse Speidel, of Chincoteague, District 1; Edward Taylor, of Assawoman, District 2; Lisa Johnson, of Horntown, District 3; incumbent Gary Reese, of Parksley, and challenger Connie Burford, of Bloxom, District 4; Camesha Handy, of the Parksley area, District 5; Paul Bull, of Accomac, District 6; Thomas “T.J.” Johnson III and Janet Martin-Turner, both of the Accomac area, District 7; Ronnie Holden, of Onancock, District 8; and Malcolm “Pep” White, of Painter, District 9.

The event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.

Fedderman will moderate the forum, and anyone who has a question for the candidates may submit it to [email protected]
