By Linda Cicoira — The Dollar General Store was the scene of another armed robbery Sunday night in Painter.

Accomack Sheriff Todd E. Godwin said at around 9:45 p.m., his office received a report of the incident. After deputies arrived at the store, it was determined that an armed black male, approximately 5 feet, 4 inches tall with a slim build, entered the store and robbed the clerk of an undisclosed amount of money.

“The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction of travel,” Godwin said. “No one was injured during this incident. The state police assisted the sheriff’s office.

Last April, a clerk at the same store on Lankford Highway was robbed and shots were fired. No one was injured in that incident either. That suspect was described as an armed male, between 5 feet, 6 inches and 5 feet, 10 inches with a slim to medium build entered the store and demanded that the clerk open the register. “The suspect fired several shots inside the store before fleeing the scene on foot in an unknown direction,” Godwin said.
