By Linda Cicoira — Accomack County Airport in Melfa was among eight Virginia airports that will share more than $13 million in federal funds, Senator John Warner and Tim Kaine announced Friday.

The Accomack facility’s grant of $94,500 is earmarked to rehabilitate an apron where aircraft are parked, unloaded or loaded, refueled, or boarded.

The money will come from the “FAA’s Airport Improvement Program, which provides grants for the planning and development of public-use airports that are significant to national air transportation,” according to the announcement. Also sharing the funds are airports in Charlottesville, Culpeper, Danville, Farmville, Mattaponi, Quinton, and Roanoke.
