Mrs. Frances Powers Roberts, 88, wife of the late Hurley Carliss Roberts Jr. and a resident of Quinby, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center in Parksley. A native of Quinby, she was the daughter of the late Rooker W. Powers and the late Louise Carruthers Powers. She was a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church where she was the church organist for 67 years and was an organist for Doughty Funeral Home.
She is survived by two sons, Trent Roberts (Melanie), of Chesapeake, Va., and Carey Dean Roberts (Diana Stiles), of Quinby; two grandchildren, Erin R. Morris (John), of Chesapeake, and John C. Roberts, of Austin, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Jayce and Eden Morris, both of Chesapeake; a nephew, Alan Gladden (Kathee), of Marionville; and a niece, Miriam Gladden Sturgis (Lennie), of Birdsnest. She was predeceased by a sister, Gloria P. Gladden, and a brother-in-law, Robert A. Gladden.
A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, July 6, 2019, at 1 p.m. at Belle Haven Cemetery with Reverend Curtis D. Lucy officiating. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Smith Chapel United Methodist Church, c/o Gwen Blake, 5046 Seaside Road, Exmore, VA 23350.
